Overview
The MTVN Interactive In-Stream Video ad unit is a 5 to 30 second video pre-roll that pauses the playback of the main content. The interactive layer can consist of any Flash-based animation and will overlay the video asset. Playback of the main video resumes once the ad video or Flash animation (whichever is longer) finishes playing or when the user manually closes the ad.
The MTVN Interactive In-Stream Video ad unit is made up of 2 creative assets, Interactive Call To Action overlay, Pre-roll, and 1 clickable URL destination.

Interactive In-Stream Video Description
(expand section for more detail)
- The Pre-roll is a linear video ad unit that precedes the playback of video content.
- The Interactive Overlay is a semi transparent .swf creative that overlays the playback of the Pre-roll. The Interactive .swf can automatically display at the start of the Pre-roll and also display upon user mouse over of the Pre-roll window.

- Asset must be in .swf format.
- Please use the provided creative template FLA to ensure compatibility.
- Flash ad creatives used for this ad unit must be developed in ActionScript 3.0.
- Stage size of creative should match target video player size.
- Stage scale mode should be set to NO_SCALE.
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
if(stage == null)
addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, handleStageReady);
else
handleStageReady();
private function handleStageReady(event:Event = null):void
{ stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; }
- Duration of animation should be approximately the same duration as the video asset, which is between 15 and 30 seconds
- Frame rate should be set to 18 fps.
- When using this layer in conjunction with video layer, graphics should be semi-transparent so that the video will be visible underneath.
- When using this layer in conjunction with video layer, any interactivity desired must be programmed in this layer.
- Links to external URLs should be opened in a separate browser window.
- External content should not be dynamically loaded. All creative assets needed for this layer should be embedded in the published .swf file.
- At the end of the animation, the following broadcast message must be issued to tell the ad unit that the animation is complete. This code sample will typically be placed in the last frame of the animation:
dispatchEvent(new Event ("swf_done"));
- For the above code to work, you must import the proper Flash event libraries.
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.events.EventDispatcher;

- Standard Definition Technical Specs:
- All standard definition deliverables must be adjusted for use within NTSC color space. The 4:3 aspect ratio along with action safe and title safe areas need to be considered at all stages of production.
- To ensure that your video levels are broadcast safe, you will need to use a waveform monitor and a vectorscope. A waveform monitor measures brightness or luminance and a vectorscope measures color or chrominance.
- Chrominance and Luminance are expected to be within NTSC legal limits:
- Luminance levels should not exceed 100 IRE units.
- Chrominance levels should not exceed 100 IRE units in bars and 110 IRE units in program.
- Setup/Black level should not exceed 0 IRE units (digital) or 7.5 IRE units (Analog)
- File naming conventions – Filenames should contain no spaces, underscores "_" only.
- Audio – Audio acquisition and mixing should utilize 24 bit 48khz PCM audio files. General consideration for Audio: In program audio should average -15dBfs and not exceed -9dBfs. Program audio should be delivered without static, dropouts, distortion, heavy dynamic compression or heavy limiting.
- High Definition Technical Specs:
- All high definition deliverables must be adjusted so that chrominance and luminance levels fall within legal limits.
- Luminance levels should not exceed 100 IRE units.
- Chrominance levels should not exceed 100 IRE units in bars and 120 IRE units in program.
- Setup/Black level should not exceed 0 IRE units.
